July 26, 2013:  NBC Today Show’s Matt Lauer Interviews Professional Golfer Phil Mickelson

Congratulations to Professional Golfer Phil Mickelson for winning his first British Open last Sunday, July 21st.  In his interview on NBC Today Show, he talked about his new golfing strategies and how it relates to math and science .  Mickelson and his wife, Amy, started the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy, a professional development program for teachers to advance math and science education.  During the interview, he said that “we are trying to give them (teachers) techniques to inspire their students and to use (their) abilities so that they are involved in the learning process rather than just telling them from a textbook.”

For the NBC Today Show interview on U-tube, visit  NBC Today Show Interview with Phil Mickelson.

As a 2010 Fellow of the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy, I encourage Grades 3-5 teachers to apply.  Visit the  Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy at http://www.sendmyteacher.com/index.html.
